INGENIOUS $20 SPRINKLER-DUBLER SOLENOID KIT VALVE KIT

What Does a Sprinkler-Dubler Solenoid Valve Kit do?

It allows the independent operation of two sprinkler solenoid valves over a single signal wire (plus the normal common). The circuit may have initially been intended to operate only one valve. Or this may be a repair because a wire has opened up in a cable bundle. The kit allows the two valves to be connected to any two Timer zone terminals. Run times for each valve can be then be set in the usual manner.

In other words, the Sprinkler-Dubler Kit allows your timer to independently operate two, sprinkler solenoid valves, through an existing one signal wire (plus the normal common). The valves then function as if each valve had its own individual circuit.

The need to add a new valve at the end of an existing irrigation line is a common occurrence. The Sprinkler-Dubler Kit allows one to add a needed second valve, without having to add any new wiring. Thus, you may avoid the trouble and effort of burying new circuit wire or unobtrusively routing this wire above ground. Also, the Sprinkler-Dubler Kit may be used as a repair. It can restore the operation of an existing valve, whose wire has opened, by sharing an existing valve line in multiple wire cable bundle. Such am sitution is not uncommon, due to electrolytic or mechanical damage.

What does a dubler Kit consist of?

A Sprinkler-Dubler Valve Kit consists of two Units; a Timer End Unit and a Solenoid [valve] End Unit. Wire nuts are used for hook-up. The contents of a Kit includes the two electronic Units, needed Wire Nuts and an instruction sheet. The two Units, although similar in appearance, operate differently at their respective ends of the circuit.

How does the Sprinkler dubler Work?

Timer power is applied to either the Yellow or Green wire of the End Unit A positive or negative pulse -train is transmitted down the single signal wire. The Solenoid Valve End Unit process the pulses and activates one or the other of the two valves, appropriately. The run-time for each valve may be programmed independently by the sprinkler timer. Thus, operation, through the dubler circuitry, functions in the normal manner, as if the valves were powered by two independent circuits.

The circuitry is of a reliable and straight forward design, which works with all standard sprinkler valves. However, the units must meet a second important criteria. The electronics' must be encased in a long life waterproof package. This is particularly true of the Solenoid End Unit which will likely be exposed to sprinkler moisture, rain and sun. To meet these requirements, the electronics' are sealed, in a Butyrate tube by Vinyl end caps. The wiring that extends from these caps is sealed using a special waterproof cement.
